Heureuse Nouvelle Année

People throughout France are anxiously awaiting this years tally. A curious tradition has become the "norm" each New Years Eve since the early '90s. This wonderful celebration is most evident in France's "sensitive urban zones" according to - believe it or not - France's Observatory of Sensitive Urban Zones.

Seems that groups of disaffected youths - many of them Muslim - do not want France, let alone the world, to forget that they exist. So, with nothing to amuse them, they torch cars for fun no doubt while chanting "death to the west" or some such other BS.
New Year's Eve in Hautpierre
Last years lofty goal reached ~1,137 cars during New Years, an increase of 30% from 2008 with the grand total of ~12,874 cars in 2009. This has become a competition from neighborhood to neighborhood to see who can create the most car carnage. Oh what fun!
New Year's Eve fun in Strasbourg - 2009
What does French president Nicolas Sarkozy intend to do this year - other than try to cover it up? ("I have decided to put an end to the competition, the sweepstakes, and will no longer publish the number of burned vehicles," Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux said this week)
Why deploy an additional 6,000 cops. Mon dieu!
Nick, that's NOT the answer - profiling and deportation ARE.

Fare Thee Well Rosie

An American icon has died.

Rosie the Riveter, neé Geraldine Doyle, died today at the age of 86 in Lansing MI.  An inspiration to the men and woman who fought in WWII and arguably the first major figure in the "Woman's Empowerment Movement." "Rosie", represented the American factory worker, mostly female, who tirelessly toiled around the clock producing armaments and munitions for the Allied war efforts.

Her death signals the end of an era. An era when the people of the U.S. were a proud and unstoppable force and did not bow down to anyone. We will sorely miss you.

When Words Are Not Enough

Edumacation - Virginia Style

One of the thirteen original colonies, Virginia ("Old Dominion") is now beginning to show it's true stripes. These aren't the Stars and Stripes from Old Glory but the stripes of political misdirection and historical revision.

Using the price is right excuse, the Virginia Department of Education has chosen a disproportionate number of textbooks from Five Ponds Press apparently based on cost alone - accuracy be damned.  Glaring errors include:

The Confederacy was comprised of 12 states, not 11
The United States entered WWI in 1916, not 1917
New Orleans was a U.S. port in 1800's, not a Spanish       Colonial one
Large numbers of African Americans fought for the         south in the Civil War

And on and on. Seems the Virginia "Standards of Learning", whose claim that mainstream textbooks do not meet their "high" standards, needs to redefine learning altogether.  Instead of trying to buy votes by placating factions that want to portray certain ethnic groups in a certain ways, they should focus on the truth - even if it hurts.

One Mr. Ronald Heinemann, a former history professor, reviewed "Our Virginia: Past and Present", one of many Five Ponds Press textbooks, and his recommendation - "This textbook should be withdrawn from the classroom immediately."

Said Mary Miley Theobald, a former Virginia Commonwealth University professor, after reviewing "Our America" (SharkyandSharky can only imagine what kind of crap is contained in that tome), "Any literate person could have opened that book and immediately found a mistake." Further stating, "Our America" is so inaccurate and biased that - "It is just too shocking for words."

SharkyandSharky believe it is time to change the state seal of Virginia.

ClapTrap - Or When Is The U.S. Going To Tire Of These Stooges

Janet Napolitano unaware that there are 365 days in a year is one thing. 364 days a year  You expect that from a bimbo.  But the Director of National Intelligence, a Mr.  James Clapper, was unaware that a major terrorist operation in London had resulted in 12 arrests when questioned earlier today by Diane Sawyer.  As usual, this administration has NO idea what is really going on throughout the world or in it's own country. PATHETIC.

And all Homeland Security can concentrate on is seeing your genitalia.

Christmas Trees Are Found to Produce Feelings of Exclusion

This goes under the heading of WTF which is beyond "Gimme a break" not quite to "Shoot me"

Graduate students of a Canadian university Simon Fraser University conducted a thesis study to determine the effects of being in the presence of a Christmas tree. (Yeah, you never heard of Simon Fraser; well you never heard of East Anglia University either until they told you that the world was going to burn up.)  The tree deployed was a 12 inch tree that was placed on a desk. The details of the study are here. The first study cohort was comprised of those who identified themselves as non celebrators of Christmas.
For those who did not celebrate Christmas, being in the room with the Christmas tree led to a less positive mood compared to being in a room with no tree. In particular, the Christmas display made non-celebrators feel less sure about themselves (what psychologists call “self-assurance”). Participants who did celebrate Christmas showed the opposite response – the presence of the tree led to a more positive mood.

The second study was conducted with a cohart of Sikhs and Buddists:
Students who identified with a religion other than Christianity (Sikhs and Buddhists) experienced a less positive mood, particularly less self-assurance, in the presence of the tree. The tree also made Sikhs and Buddhists feel less included at the university. The tree did not affect Christian students’ sense of inclusion at the university, but it did lead them to a more positive mood.
Although the SFU has an extensive Muslim study program
designed to broaden public understanding of an often misunderstood and feared groups
No Muslims were apparently included in the study. It appears that they have a great desire to blow up Christmas trees and those finding joy in them.

Now let us examine this. Christians are to express openness by being inclusive of others but others would feel a whole lot better included by Christians not expressing their Christianity and feeling good about being Christian. Christians are to suppress their religious joy in order that others may feel joy. Hmmm...Yeah WTF?

Here is a qoute from Ben Stein:
“I’m a Jew and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish, And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. Stein categorically denies feeling threatened or discriminated against by Christian displays. He says, “I don’t like being pushed around for being a Jews and I don’t think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christian.”
You got that right Ben. Continuing here are some comments by the followers of Behavorial Healthcare.net.
This is a Judaeo / Christian country and a J/C holiday time frame. That's the reality and that's the way it is. Its not our responsiblity to try to make everyone feel good. Non Jews and non Christians have their own time of year and their own holidays. Do you think that Muslims would welcome having Christmas tress and Hannukah celebrations during Ramadan ? Of course not. And, don't forget about the Athiests. They are bound to be depressed and feel bad about all of the religious holiday symbols of the believers of every faith. So , let's make sure not to offend them either.
Continuing the same source:
Calling Christmas Trees "Ornamented Trees"?? Really? I guess we should call a Menorah a "7 Sticked Candelabra" except the Kwanza Kinara has 7 candles too so we must be careful you know! Give me a break!

TO ALL Sharky&Sharky offer this:

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Snow Is White - Idiocy Colorblind

SharkyandSharky like a good snowman or snow angel as much as anything this time of year. But wait - it is just the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere and snow is a thing of the past. Oh sure

The Brits, experts on all things wealth transferenceable, have spoken and their double-speak is as good as any socialist freedom-hating country. Brits say - due to climate change - "If it's cold here, it's hot somewhere else." YEAH right, just ask those crazy Aussies. No wonder you lost your empire many years ago.

Climate change is alway occurring - just ask the freaking dinosaurs! R.Wilson

Saddam Crazy - It's Hard To Believe

The Koran, a book as responsible as the Bible for world-wide deaths and misery, may have the Bible beaten for creating an unimaginable international crisis.

Seems that back in the late '90's, one Mr. Saddam Hussein thought it a good idea to have a copy of the Koran written in his own blood - over 7 gallons of it. That's a lot of red ink.  But considering the 605 page length of the tome, SharkyandSharky feel the E.P.A. would rate the pages/gallon acceptable.

Now the fun part.  The "Blood Koran" has been locked inside a vault under a Bagdad mosque that originally Saddam called "The Mother Of All Battles."  Turns out this is proving prophetic as the Koran in any form cannot be destroyed.  So the "Blood Koran" is likely to cause much more blood to be spilled as the Iraqis try to determine what to do about this.

Since his ouster in 2003 and his death in 2006, Iraq has been continuously erasing the tyrannical remnants of Hussein's regime.  Even street names are being changed "to protect the innocent."  Iraqi officials want to destroy the book to eliminate a Sunni rallying cause, but their religion won't allow it.

SharkyandSharky hope that no Dutch journalists pen cartoons about this subject.

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme

Ah the Obama supporters.  Enough is never enough. More is always required.  Buying votes is getting really expensive.
Poor Raymeica Kelly.  Showing her Georgia Power bills (in "her" home - wonder who paid for it) in front of a mammoth flat screen TV, an Xbox and Blu Ray player, explains how her mother, sister and herself were turned away from the Energy Assistance Program last Wednesday.  All three complained that the system Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council (SharkyandSharky say get a load of that political horse shit) uses to GIVE out assistance needs improving. What needs improving Ms. Kelly, is the permanent removal of people like yourself, your sister and your mother from the backs of society.

Produce or perish.  It is time to hit the "reset" button. Enough IS enough.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Drive

Those crazy romantic Italians have banned a TV commercial showing two lesbians engaging in what lesbians do apparently because the TV spot is "offensive to lesbians."

Chill out - can you say Roman Orgy?
