Currently on:
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/r/movie/

NHK is no longer broadcasting this feed - effective 03/24/11

Over the next few weeks Sharky&Sharky will keep the live feed from NHK available to you and right on top in order that our readers can see what is going on at the Japanese Nuclear Power Plants as well as the impact of the disaster.

Please look below this post to see Sharky&Sharky's new posts that are being added such as "Barry is Brainless" which is the start of Sharky&Sharky's narrative for the thinking voter in 2012.

AP reports that:
The World Bank said ...that Japan may need five years to rebuild from the disasters, which caused up to $235B in damage...
Sharky&Sharky is betting that Japan will be back in the batter's box in 3 years and in the on-deck circle in 2 years. The Japanese do not have the New Orleans ethos of e a handout or corruption.

What Do You Do

Sharky&Sharky are not going to bombard you with pictures of the incredible human tragedy that is Japan. But these photos need to be seen by as many people as possible. They are not meant to invoke sorrow - rather to instill hope and personal fortune that your picture is not among them.

Japan's BIG Question

Pondering the imponderables is something that is always on the minds of Sharky&Sharky. So, let's get right to it.

The disaster that is the Japanese tsunami is beyond imagination. Videos and still images, although terrifying, cannot possibly convey the magnitude of destruction that occurred within minutes of the 8.9 earthquake which struck off the coast of Japan. The dead, the physical obliteration, the ruins and the missing. ALL beyond belief. With that said, something still exists in it's absence.

Where are all the looters? Nary a picture of one has surfaced. Why?

Japan - a country with the lowest murder and attempted murder rates (except for Singapore) of any country in the world. A country with the highest life expectancy rates and the lowest infant mortality rates, a country that is an economic powerhouse even though it's population is slightly less than 130 million.

Japan is a culturally homogenous country with a very small population of foreign workers. Maybe this explains why not being a "melting pot" for the worlds cultures is a good idea.

Japan - the entire world wishes you well. And to answer the question originally raised, the looters are right here - in the United States.

The Dearth of Rare Earth..Update

...UM whose been paying attention to the store?  As in: Europium, Lanthanum, Neodymium, Dysprosium and Terbium.

All of the above are invaluable to present day lifestyles with respect to technology.  All are mandatory for the "Green" future of mankind - yes I said MANkind.  And ALL of them are controlled primarily by China - due to the fact that the Chinese are the only major country that can process the raw materials necessary to produce them. China is our largest creditor.

For instance - Toyota's Prius requires approximately 7,500 tons of Lanthanum and 1,000 tons of Neodymium per year to build the batteries in these cars.  Wind turbines (the cure-all for "free green" electricity) use Neodymium as the main component in their magnets.  Without uninterrupted availability of these rare earths, these technologies will cease.  At least cease to be available to the West.

Ah yes, the holder of much of America's ever increasing debt, in large part due to the Chosen One, also controls the majority of the supply of these elements.  As China's consumption of these elements continues to increase, the Chinese government may choose not to export them to the US the future.  Whoops!

How could this possibly have been allowed to occur?

SharkyandSharky believe it's just another example of our government keeping us safe.

UPDATE...UPDATE...UPDATE..Feb 17, 2010
China is no longer our largest creditor. What a relief! Japan is. Didn't we bomb Japan and install America's Caesar to rule them for awhile? From then until now Japan has become the world's largest supplier of electronic goods. The US now only owes China $755B while we now owe the people we bombed (remember when the US knew how to close out a war) $768B. Lest you forget to add that is $1.5T we owe these two countries alone.

Do not worry we will sink ourselved before we sink the rest of the world. Here is a nice display from CNBC of our debt situation right now. The Biggest Holders of US Government Debt - CNBC
