It's All Fun And Games T'il The Food Runs Out

Egypt has gone from an "orderly" dictatorship to a country in chaos in a few short days. The Mubarak regime is over - but what is likely to fill the void? As of right now, nothing good.

Other than the fact that you can always count on one-half of a country willing to kill the other half (see above), the Egyptian people as a whole may not know what democracy is, but that does not mean they do not want it. Thanks in large part to technology's "social media tools", Egyptians were able to access an independent communications and propaganda source outside the government mantra. After 58 years of government propaganda it is not surprising that the Egyptian people would not accept the government's explanation as to what was actually occurring. People believed what they read on Facebook and Twitter because they wanted to believe it. So here they are and where do they go from here?

Gamal, son of Hosni, ain't gonna cut it. In all probability, the Mubarak regime was not prepared nor informed of the true situation or the degree of participation. Both the Egyptian security forces and the military simply stood down and waited and watched. As police station after police station was assaulted and breeched, weapons removed and prisoners released, no one intervened. Even the sight of tanks in the streets did not deter the protesters from their mission. But this vacuum must and will be filled. But with what? Let's hope it's better than the following image.
